Ibas signs global agreement with a large Swedish company
Safe erasing is the only way
The job of erasing absolutely all information on a hard disk with existing operating systems is extremely complicated. Alternatives such as "Format," "fdisk" and normal erasing commands do not remove information that is stored on your computer. These commands only change the structure on the disk, so it is still possible to recover the data with available program tools. The agreement with Ibas guarantees that the thousands of customer's computers to be scrapped annually will not pose a security threat for the company.
Breakthrough in Sweden
"The agreement represents a breakthrough for our data erasure concept in Sweden, and we think that the agreement will serve as a solid reference for us to influence many Swedish businesses who have not as yet taken the security risk seriously. The selection of Ibas as supplier takes place after a thorough evaluation by the customer of a range of alternatives, and we look forward to a very constructive partnership. The public and private sectors in Norway have up to now been much better at using reliable data erasure methods compared to Sweden. Although the security risk is the same, the explanation may possibly be that the Swedish privacy laws are not as strict when it comes to erasing personal data as compared to the Norwegian privacy laws," says Henning Hansen, President and CEO Norman ASA.
